Cowboy Casserole
A hearty, easy casserole made with seasoned ground beef, baked beans, biscuits, and plenty of melted cheddar cheese.
Directions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
- 2. Lightly coat a 9-by-13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
- 3. Season the ground beef with salt and pepper.
- 4. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is just cooked through. Drain any excess grease if needed.
- 5. Pour the baked beans into the prepared baking dish. Add the cooked ground beef and onions and stir to combine.
- 6. If using a boxed biscuit mix, prepare the dough according to the package directions. Arrange the prepared biscuit dough or premade biscuits evenly over the beef and bean mixture.
- 7. Bake for 25 minutes.
- 8. Remove the casserole from the oven and sprinkle with as much shredded cheddar cheese as your heart desires.
- 9. Return to the oven and bake for another 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the biscuits are cooked through.
- 10. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving to avoid serving hot lava.
